Overview:
A 1.375" X 35 foot central vacuum crush proof universal connect total control hose allowing for activation of the central vacuum alone or the central vacuum and power nozzle together through a three position switch located within the hose handle. A CT20QD 14" fully featured wide electric power nozzle. A fully integrated telescopic electric wand connecting from the hose to the power nozzle. These three elements represent the three most commonly replaced or upgraded central vacuum accessories.
Features and benefits:
- The 1.375" inner diameter crush proof dual voltage electric hose is designed to optimize the performance of your central vacuum and deliver that performance to the power nozzle on the floor for more effective collection of debris.
- The hose features a three position switch in the handle with allows for independent control of the central vacuum alone, or the central vacuum and power nozzle together.
- The wall end is designed for compatibility with industry standard inlet valves to connect the low voltage circuit used to power your central vacuum and and eight foot cord that can be plugged into standard wall outlets in the home to provide the 120V power to run the power nozzle.
- The hose is crush proof produced in a polyethylene co-polymer which will not mark floor or furnishings.
- The CT20QD 14" wide power nozzle has a chevron wood agitator designed to capture debris and move it the center of the brush for capture by the vacuums air stream.
- The Ct20QD has a three position height adjustment that permits you to adjust the height of the agitator to carpet conditions for more effective capture of dirt deep within carpet fibers and optimize carpet grooming to preserve carpet appearance.
- The agitaior is driven by a lifetime poly-v belt that reduces noise and vibration.
- The CT20QD has over molded wheels and rollers on the height adjustment which permit use of the nozzle on hard floor. Caution. Should you use the power nozzle on hard floor be sure to turn off the agitator to avoid damage to the floor surface. Switch the handle to only operate the vacuum on hard floor surface use.
- A wand release feature allows the wand to release from the brush for use in above the floor cleaning.
- A fully integrated telescopic electric wand connects the hose with the power nozzle. The telescopic feature allows the length of the wand to be extended or compressed to match what is comfortable for the user when vacuuming.
Common questions:
What do you mean by universal connect?
Universal indicates this solution can be used with a broad range of industry standard and brand proprietary inlets like the Nutone inlet which have two low voltage contact points with into the inlet valve stem. The eight foot cord extends to a standard 120V outlet in the hose to provide the power necessary to run the electric power nozzle.
What is meant by total control or 4-wire?
The hose has four wires within the hose body. Two provide low volt and are used to control the on off of the central vacuum. Two are 120V and are used to provide power to the power nozzle. The three position switch in the handle has a center position when neither the vacuum nor the power nozzle run. Switched left only the central vacuum will come on. Used for above the floor cleaning or when one wants to sue a floor brush. Switched right both the central vacuum and the power nozzle come on used for carpet cleaning.
Are there central vacuum inlets where this will not work?
Yes. There is a proprietary inlet sold under the Vacu-Flo brand which does not have low voltage contacts in the valve stem. Lacking these it is not possible to control the on off of the vacuum with these inlets. Years ago there were also inlets sold which used a micro-switch to activate the vacuum. You can easily identify these. When the valve door opens the vacuum comes on.
Is there anything else I should be aware of?
Yes. Should you want to disconnect the hose handle from the integrated electric wand for above the floor cleaning always move the three position switch to the left. This will disconnect the 120V power from the pins in the handle. This will prevent the risk of an electrical arc when you reassemble the handle to the integrated wand. This is a shrouded connection so the risk of an electrical shock is mitigated but arcing can impact the pins in the handle or on the hose with repeated events.
Compatibility:
This solution is compatible with industry standard inlets which have two low voltage contact points within the valve stem. You can confirm this by visual inspection inside the valve stem . You will see two small contact points projecting into the stem which contact the hose end. This is the most common valve type sold with brands like Beam, Nutone, Vacu-Maid, Vacu-Flo, Canavac, Cyclovac, Broan, MD Manufacturing, Imperium and many more.
