Description

Overview;

Cen-Tec total control 1.375" X 35 foot direct connect dual voltage electric hose permitting independent control of the central vacuum and the central vacuum and power nozzle from the three position switch located in the hose handle. The CT20QD Quiet Drive 14" wide fully featured power nozzle suitable for cleaning carpets and use on hard floor with the agitator  is turned off. A fully integrated telescopic wand connects from the hose to the floor nozzle delivering the 120V power why allowing you to adjust the wand length for comfort.  These represent the three most commonly upgraded accessories associated with central vacuum ownership.

Features and benefits:

  • The 1.375" inner diameter hose optimizes the performance of your central vacuum delivered to the floor surface for capture of debris embedded in carpets or on the surface of your hard floors.
  • The hose is highly flexible and crush proof with the jacket produced of polyethylene co-polymers assuring the hose will not mark flooring or damage furnishings.
  • The CT20QD Quiet Drive power nozzle is 14" wide with a chevron wood agitator which pulls dirt from the nozzle ends to the center of the brush for more effective debris collection.
  • The CT20QD has a three position height adjustment which allows the nozzle to be adjusted to carpet conditions to aid in dirt embedded deep in the carpet fibers, provide excellent surface grooming to help maintain carpet appearance.
  • The CT20QD has a lifetime poly-V drive belt which reduces noise and vibration.
  • Over molded wheels at the back of the nozzle and rollers on the height adjustment bar let the nozzle move on to hard floor. Caution. We highly recommend the agitator being turned off using the three position switch in the hose handle when moving on to hard floor.
  • A wand release feature allows the wand to disconnect from the power nozzle for use of above the floor accessories and or a floor brush.
  • A fully integrated electric telescopic wand can be adjusted in length to extend reach or fit user comfort.

Common Qustions:

What is meant by direct connect?

There are two common designed of central vacuum inlets which provide the low voltage circuit through to contact points within the valve stem and located above or below the valve opening a 120V interface to deliver the power necessary to run the power nozzle. Direct connect is an industry term for this design. When you plug in the hose you at the same time plug into the 120V power to run your electric floor nozzle.

Can you explain the total control feature of the hose?

There is a three position switch in the handle of the hose. Centered neither the central vacuum nor the power nozzle have power. Switched left only the central vacuum will be powered. This is the position you want when cleaning above the floor or using a floor brush. Switched right you will power the central vacuum and deliver the 120V power to the power nozzle on the floor. This is the selection to be made when vacuuming carpet.

Is there any central vacuum inlet with pin access above the inlet valve stem?

Yes. There was a proprietary inlet sold under the Vacu-Flo brand which had the low voltage contact pins located above the valve stem. These pins were exclusively used to activate the vacuum. They do not provide 120V power and are not suitable for use with this product.

Is there anything else I should consider using this system?

Yes. If you should disconnect the hose from the integrated wand to use the hose handle for above the floor cleaning always shut off the 120V power to the power nozzle. If left on when you go to reconnect the handle to the wand you risk and electrical arc as the pins on the wand get very close to the pins within the handle plug. This is a shrouded connection so there is virtually no risk of electricla shock but arching can degrade the hose and wand pins over time.

Compatibility:

The hose is compatible with direct connect inlets sold under the Hayden and or Canplas brands. These represent 100% of direct connect inlets sold by major brands of central vacuums including Beam, Vacumaid, Vacu-Flo, Canavac, Cyclovac, MD Manufacturing, Nutone, Broan, and many other brands.
